If You Didn't Know the Show, Wouldn't You be Offended?!
What a name for a show! Fortunately, trusted friends and family familiar with WNTW encouraged me, promising that it would be "worth it in the end." And it was!
The friend who got me through it all!
Meegs is my thrift store buddy and a dear friend from my University of Chicago days, and I couldn't have done it without her support...thank you Meegs!
Me and My Girls!
Kina is 9 and the donator of the purple scrunchy mentioned in the Shedd ambush. She is a fashion goddess in her own right and isn't afraid to mix and match six or seven different shades of pink. Go girl! Phi is 7 and tends to more functional outfits. She is, however, an amazing clothing folder and organizer. Go figure :)
Harriet!
Gorgeous mom to Brian [at the time, my fiance]. The only redhaired greek I know and a snappy dresser. I won't tell her age but you would NEVER believe it anyway.
Brian makes peace with DeCarla
In the end, Brian was very happy with my transformation (although he's almost as tight with money as I am, so there will be some adjusting for him to do). Here he is shaking hands with DeCarla, the woman who started it all.
Me, Kurt & Noelle
Here I am with my clients Kurt and Noelle. Unfortunately, their adorable daughter Amara couldn't make it, but we parents know that a night out alone is priceless, right? They showed up early, stayed late, and drank me under the table. Awesome people, rockin' clients.
Devin & Ricky
Here's Devin, a fellow real estate agent from my office, and my hero for getting me a DVR of my show the very next day! Thank you, Devin! Next to her is Ricky, DeCarla's husband and a really great guy.
Zoe & Mark
Here is another special set of wonderful clients, Zoe and Mark. Their (former) home features prominently in my episode's secret footage. I did discover eventually that roughly half the people who showed up to my open houses at Mark & Zoe's condo were from What Not to Wear, but didn't have the heart to admit it to them until the night of the airing...which happened to be the day we closed on that property! Were stars aligned or what?!
John, Marty & Diana
On the left (partly hidden) is John Santo, my new managing broker at the Evanston office of K&S. He's a fun, helpful guy and we're glad to have him. In the middle is Marty Norkett, head of our commercial division and someone who thought this whole thing was pretty hilarious from the get-go. On the right is the inimitable and devastatingly gorgeous Diana Gourguechon, a good friend of Brian's and a new friend of mine :)
John & Susan
Here's a better pic of John (love the power tie) and an agent extraordinaire from my office, Susan Tash. She always looks good, but more especially so now that she kicks butt at Fitness Boot Camp!
TROUBLE!
Oh my, get this crew together and trouble a' come! Marty is on the left, local developer Tom Gourguechon goofs in the center, and lawyer Sandy Stein is on the right.
Candy & Ellen
I'm sorry, have you seen two drop-dead gorgeous women around? Oh, that's right, there they are...Both these lovely women are agents from my office. This is probably my favorite picture from the whole night :)
Speaking of Beautiful Women...
Ok, here's another set of beauties...Patti on the left is my favorite neighbor (and a fine looking mom, I will add). Mary G in the center shocks everyone when she tells them how old her kids are. She, like me, has the renovation sickness and sometimes we feed into each other and do projects together. Amy, on the right, is a long-time friend of Brian's and my favorite chat buddy at local parties!
Jen & Zach
These are friends of Meegs from WAY BACK and some awfully nice people. Zoe and Mark's 4-year-old son Tillio has a crush on Jen (who can blame him?). It's been a long time since we've hung out, so it was real nice to see them! Emily (who really, really wanted it to be her instead of me) high-fives on the left.
Tillio!
Here he is, in all his glory. This is a great kid and a future Girl Devastator...watch out!
Barb & Chris
Barb & Chris are another set of escapee parents for the evening (go! go! go!). They rent one of Brian's little houses and have been the best tenants ever (not to mention the most talented decorators). We will be sad to see them, their adorable kids Spencer and Charlotte and GOOD DOGS Whimsy and Vespa, go...
My First View of Myself on TV
Oh god, it's hard to see and hear yourself on TV...I think my facial expression here says it all!
A Light Moment with Kina
Thank god for commercials...and little girls. My sweet squid was there for me the whole time, watching, laughing and hugging me all through the episode. Kina, I couldn't do any of this without you!
Charlie & Suzi
Charlie turned 40 the day before, and Suzi threw him an amazing party the following night...so the fact that they found time to hang with us this night was wonderful!! Thanks, guys!
Me & Brian
Here I am watching with Brian [then, my fiance]. He was a reluctant participant in all the secrecy (honestly, I think he had more OH CRAP moments than THIS IS A GOOD IDEA moments, but I'll shoulder the responsibility for that).
Pahtay!
Here's an image of general partiness, just so you get an idea of the flavor...Thanks to all who showed up and much love!
A Moment Captured...What Did I Say?!
No, no, I take that back: this is my favorite picture from the evening...Martha is clearly shocked by something SOMEONE on the show said, and I'd give my eyeteeth to know exactly which moment it was. Whatever was said, Meegs is clearly amused!
Dawg...
A gorgeous picture of goddesses to finish the evening's remembrance...Megan, Emily, Jen and Zoe. Who could ask for anything more?!
