Step 7: Take a Deep Breath! Negotiations can be difficult, drawn out, and emotionally or even physically draining. Most of my buyer's feelings at this point are positive (excitement, euphoria, relief), but sometimes there are also residual feelings of resentment, anger or fear, depending on the circumstances and eventual outcome of the negotiations.
There is no "right" way to feel, so allow yourself whatever comes naturally and share it with me if it's comfortable to do so. Sometimes just unloading makes a big difference in how you feel, and certainly, I've helped clients through it before. I'm your resource and your support, during good and bad, and I don't take the job lightly.
Once you have a contract, take a moment to reflect and rejoice. The sellers may be difficult or unlikeable, but that doesn't diminish the fact that you've just accomplished something spectacular: agreement! Honor yourself for getting to this point and prepare yourself for the work yet to come.
